I ran into the same problem just now. A matter of fact, I just used it on Sunday, so it came as a bit of a shock to me.

ECalc Scientific 1.5 is available as a free download on our software library. The software is included in Education Tools. ECalc.exe is the frequent file name to indicate this program's installer. The actual developer of the program is eCalc.com.

Usually on ECalc I used the custom function because I normally have the info for my components on hand, so it was a pretty easy matter of just inputting the data and getting a pretty reliable estimate of my possible motor and prop combinations, specifically amps and thrust. It would at least get me into the ballpark of where I needed to be. However, now that the free lacks the custom function, I guess it's back to figuring out power combos the good old fashioned way.in flight. I cannot speak for other persons (like Watdazit and Wizard so elegantly do), but I think 1 dollar a month is too much (one month is fine, but because I would like to have a tool available continually, it adds up).

Add to that the fact that I do not like to create recurring payments due to subscriptions and stuff (I like small overhead). I am prepared to pay a small fee, but I do not like the current subscription plan.

Now, back to the question (instead of handing out rude comments like the above mentioned persons do): are there any good alternatives? See, I wouldn't mind paying a one time fee that guaranteed I'd be able to use the program, just like any other PC based software license. And for many it's not a question of being stingy, as I know of many of us who are on extremely tight budgets and constantly re-use the gear we already have in different combinations.

So while a buck or two a month may seem cheap or a non-issue to some, it does matter to others. While previously we had a good free tool to insure we didn't burn up our precious limited gear, now we don't. I understand how the economy is, however charging monthly/yearly for what basically amounts to a very fancy scientific calculator just doesn't jive with some people. Juniper networks network connect mac client download. And I really don't want to hear the crap that if you can't afford this hobby, get out; because I'm almost certain it will come up. But on a lighter note, I guess it's time those of us who feel the prices aren't cool should break out our massive amounts of formula tables and scientific graphing calculators and really learn to crunch the numbers by hand. It would be good for everybody. Never been much of a fan of the calculators, wheteher free or a subscription.
